Volunteering with Assisi Aid Projects

Gain practical work experience and exposure to our organisation, the International Development sector, and gender equality programming as a volunteer.

“I was inspired by Assisi Aid Projects as it aligns with my interests in women’s rights. The environment here is great as you are able to see the impact the work has on individual women and hear their stories.” – Madi, past volunteer

Past volunteers have gone on to gain employment with other NGOs or the public sector, or applied their volunteer hours to complement academic study and gain practical experience.

Please send through any applications to [email protected] with an up-to-date resume and a CV outlining your preferred placement timeframe.

All volunteer placements are based in the Assisi Aid Projects office in Melbourne, Victoria. Where necessary, you may be required to work remotely (e.g., COVID-19 restrictions, team member locations).

While week-to-week timing is flexible, our preference is that volunteers commit to a minimum placement of 3 months, volunteering at least one day per week.

All expressions of interest from potential volunteers are welcome regardless of prior experience. Previous volunteers’ areas of interest include International Development, International Relations, women’s empowerment, and community development, among many others.

Assisi Aid Projects accepts applications for internships and engages students on a case-by-case basis.

While the majority of our volunteer roles occur within business hours, we welcome expressions of interest and a suitable role on our sub-committees may be available dependent on experience.

Assisi Aid Projects supports in-country partners to implement its projects, prioritising community ownership and long-term sustainability. For this reason, we are not able to provide overseas volunteer opportunities.

Volunteers complete a range of work assignments such as program support, research, fundraising, communications, social media, and general administration. The Chief Executive Officer will work with you to determine the areas of work you will focus on in your role.
