When we think of helping others, it’s perhaps natural to first think of welfare — providing food and emergency aid to meet immediate needs. Welfare can certainly ease suffering in the short term, but as a supporter of Assisi Aid Projects, you are committing to something longer lasting: development.
Development improves people’s lives over the long term. It’s the difference between temporary relief and lasting change. Rather than giving a family food for a week, our goal is to help women establish livelihoods so they can feed their families for a lifetime.
At a time when global support for development is declining and the challenges of gender inequality persist, our work is more important than ever. We remain deeply committed to our mission to empower women through sustainable livelihoods. We believe that empowering women through education, skills and small enterprise is one of the most effective and sustainable ways to strengthen entire communities.
